About The Position

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire a Division Manager for the Office of Mines and Minerals. This position will serve as the manager of the Land Reclamation Division and will be responsible for the administration and direction of the Surface-Mined Land Conservation and Reclamation Act and the Surface Coal Mining Land Conservation and Reclamation Act. The position will be responsible for the preparation, management, and administration of the division's budget and associated grants. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college
  • Requires prior experience equivalent to four years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization
  • Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history
  • Requires appropriate, valid Driver's License
  • Requires ability to travel in performance of duties

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of experience of the Surface Coal Mining Land Conservation and Reclamation Act, its regulations at 62 III Administrative Code 1700-1850 and Title V of the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977, as amended.
  • Working knowledge of the Office of Surface Mining policies and procedures.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Working knowledge with budgeting.
  • Working knowledge with grants management.
  • Prefers a Bachelor's degree in a Natural Science.

Responsibilities

  • Subject to administrative approval by the Director of the Officce of Mines and Minerals and in accordance with the overall policies and procedures of the Department of Natural Resources, plans, organizes, and manages the Land Reclamation Division
  • Serves as a full line supervisor
  • Provides oversight of programs to ensure compliance and consistency with the Surface Coal Mining Land Conservation and Reclamation Act and Title V of the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act of 1977, as amended
  • Serves as the division's liaison with the Office of Surface Mining, U.S. Department of the Interior, on all issues pertaining to Title V of the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act and as the liaison with the Interstate Mining Compact Commission
  • Confers and advises the Office Director on matters concerning the division's regulatory programs
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
