About The Position

Plans, leads, and coordinates all human resource management activities for the Trailer Division office in Canton. Also provides division-wide support and leadership in training, organizational development, wellness, and safety.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, industrial/organizational psychology, or organization development.
  • Broad knowledge in all key functional areas of HR.
  • 4-6 years of experience in a variety of HR positions, both plant and staff-level preferred.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Effective oral and written skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills required.
  • Self-motivated and empowered self-starter.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree a definite plus.
  • SHRM certification is an advantage.
  • Active affiliation with appropriate HR networks and organizations and ongoing community involvement preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of the Human Resources function in the Trailer Division Office, Research & Development facility, and Lower Bay facility.
  • Establish a consistent, frequent HR presence at both locations.
  • Provide HR consulting to the management teams on effective human resource planning and utilization and on maintaining positive employer-employee relationships.
  • Partner with management to communicate HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Manage the recruiting process for exempt and non-exempt employees using consistent recruiting and hiring practices to hire a superior workforce.
  • Participate in conducting investigations when employee complaints or concerns surface.
  • Take a leadership role with the training activities for the Trailer division, including training needs assessments, management development, and safety training.
  • Coordinate division-wide programs to ensure consistent, quality outcomes.
  • Monitor the training activities to ensure effectiveness and coordinate with Hendrickson International to ensure consistency.
  • Track key metrics that will indicate the effectiveness of our training activities.
  • Assist the organizational development activities for the Trailer division, including assisting and providing input on the division consolidation of the succession plans.
  • Manage the performance management process across the division to ensure consistent, timely reviews are completed effectively; individual development plans are realistic and reflect the division’s goals; and the development plans are implemented.
  • Play a key role in other OD processes such as workforce planning, organization design, and employee retention strategies.
  • Coordinate activities with Hendrickson International to ensure consistency.
  • Track key metrics that will indicate the effectiveness of our organizational development activities.
  • Manage division-wide Wellness Committee and related activities.
  • Support the Human Resources function throughout the Division.
  • Serve as a resource in all areas for the plant Human Resources managers as well as the Division HR staff.
  • Provide expertise for in-service training programs to develop the HR staff across the Division.
  • Provide support for annual merit and other compensation actions.
  • Assist in hourly wage proposal process.
  • Participate in developing departmental goals, objectives, and systems.
  • HRIS metrics lead/liaison for Division and Trailer plants.
  • Matrix responsibilities for a subset Trailer manufacturing facilities as assigned.
  • Liaison to HR managers regarding day-to-day operations, tasks, and work progress.
  • Demonstrate independent judgment and decision making in matters not having established rules, regulations, or policies.
  • Collaborates with HR Director and/or legal counsel on legal matters pertaining to employees, company policy, and disciplinary actions.
  • Travel to Trailer plants as required. Expectation sites visits a minimum of 2 times per year.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality with respect to personnel matters and sets a tone for others so that a culture of respect and discretion is fostered throughout the organization.
  • Demonstrates integrity, sound judgment, ethical and professional behavior.
  • Assist the Director of Human Resources with a variety of human resource related activities.
  • Other specific projects as assigned by the Director of HR.
  • Grant Writing (as needed).
  • Manage Division HR Reps., PATH program.
  • Provides leadership in the absence of the HR Director or on behalf of the HR Director as requested.
