About The Position

The Division Head is the physician leader of a clinical division within a Department, Center, or Institute, who leads programs and initiatives to achieve positive outcomes in Cooper’s four pillars: Quality & High Reliability, Cooper Experience, Education & Research, and Growth & Finance, while also serving as a leader within the Medical Staff and the CMSRU. The Pediatric Surgery Division in the Department of Pediatrics at Cooper Health University is seeking a full-time faculty position as physician. Practice Highlights: Two additional MD physicians and two Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) Children’s Regional Hospital at Cooper has 27 pediatric subspecialist programs – more than any other hospital in South Jersey. Cooper’s pediatric surgeons are recognized by the National Pediatric Trauma Registry for surgical excellence Collaboration opportunities with Cooper Medical School of Rowan University Close partnership with Pediatric Gastroenterology, Neonatology, and our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited institution
  • Active New Jersey medical license
  • Completion of an accredited pediatric surgery training program
  • Innovative spirit in the clinical setting, superior teamwork with interdisciplinary collaborative approach, desire to work with underserved populations
  • Fully support the academic, clinical, and educational missions of our program including creating scholarly work, improving quality metrics, and creating a positive learning environment
  • Display the communication, and interpersonal skills required to build an active clinical practice, develop areas of productive scholarship, and recruit additional faculty
  • Significantly influence the direction of our program, and join like-minded faculty committed to our mission of being at the cutting edge of Pediatric Surgery!
  • NJ medical license
  • Board certification in Pediatric surgery
  • At least 8 years of attending-level clinical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight and clinical leadership for the Pediatric Surgery division, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and evidence-based care.
  • Supervise and mentor faculty within division.
  • Develop and implement divisional goals, policies, and quality initiatives in alignment with hospital and departmental objectives.
  • Collaborate with hospital leadership to optimize resource allocation, staffing, and budgeting for the division.
  • Lead program development, including expansion of surgical services, research initiatives, and interdisciplinary care programs.
  • Promote academic growth, research, and innovation within the division.
  • Oversee training programs for residents and fellows, ensuring high educational standards.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction metrics, implementing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, licensure, and accreditation standards.
  • Serve as a liaison to hospital committees and external organizations regarding pediatric surgical care standards.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, including neonatology, pediatric critical care, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, pediatric hospitalists and trauma.
