Division Director - Central Pharmacy

About The Position

We are seeking a Division Director for our Central Pharmacy. The Central Pharmacy Division provides sterile and non-sterile compounding, distribution of controlled substances, 24-hour unit-dose-cart fill, and automated dispensing cabinets (ADC's) supply and replenishment. This area prepares and distributes approximately 1,900 cart fill doses/day and approximately 400 patient-specific sterile compounds a day. Various automation technology is used to support these workflows. This role will oversee the management of 90 total FTEs including pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, operations managers and pharmacy technician supervisors. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy resulting in Pharm D degree, or equivalent (BS plus 1-3 years of experience) required.
  • Completion of an ASHP accredited residency program or equivalent experience is required.
  • Advanced training to obtain skills consistent with a MS, MBA, MPH, or equivalent managerial experience is required.
  • Requires current licensure as a pharmacist in the State of Maryland.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of pharmacy practice.
  • Previous supervisory experience is required.
  • Comprehensive understanding of pharmacy related processes, systems, and equipment commonly used within the assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Comprehensive understanding of how areas of assigned responsibility relate to other hospital departments.
  • Extensive understanding of patient safety principles to be applied to the area of responsibility.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy therapeutics in the area of responsibility is required.
  • Ability to develop departmental goals and objectives, assists in development and monitoring of budgets, safety, and participate in systems development, maintenance , and monitoring.
