About The Position

Odyssey Behavioral Healthcare provides evidence based, clinically excellent, client-centered care for individuals seeking mental health, substance use disorder and eating disorder treatment along a full continuum of care designed to support long-term sustainable care. The Division Chief Financial Officer (CFO) provides strategic financial leadership across their assigned division, translating clinical and operational goals into sound financial plans. Reporting to the VP of Financial Operations, the Division CFO directs financial planning and analysis, accounting, revenue cycle, budgeting, and reporting functions across all facilities and programs within the division, ensuring fiscal integrity, regulatory compliance, and the efficient use of resources in support of high-quality care.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Healthcare Administration
  • A minimum of 5 years supervisory experience is required
  • A minimum of 3 years operational experience in the healthcare provider environment with progressive leadership experience across finance and revenue cycle management.
  • Demonstrates the ability to lead and promote active communication with facility and department leaders and team members throughout the division.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills; communicates clearly and concisely with facility leadership, corporate partners, and all members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of healthcare revenue cycle, reimbursement methodologies, and payor mix; able to provide financial recommendations that support program growth.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills; identifies and overcomes challenges, celebrates successes, enhances program effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to GAAP, all licensures, accreditations, and contract requirements.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and adherence to all state and federal laws related to business and financial operations.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of behavioral health management practices and financial operations.
  • Demonstrates the ability to leverage and analyze data to maintain a financial and operational pulse, ensuring ongoing achievement of financial, operational, and regulatory objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with the Corporate CFO and Division CEO to develop and execute the division’s financial strategy in support of program growth and evolving market conditions
  • Directs the preparation of accurate, timely financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and management reporting for all facilities and programs within the division.
  • Ensures achievement of business objectives through rigorous financial, operational, and regulatory oversight of all programs within the division.
  • Effectively manages financial and capital resources to meet the needs of clients and programs while maximizing efficiency and minimizing waste.
  • Ensures the timely submission of financial and key performance metrics; interprets results and proactively recommends operational and financial adjustments.
  • Promotes the professional growth and development of finance staff throughout the division, championing effective teamwork and analytical rigor.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable accounting standards (GAAP), licensures, accreditations, contracts, and state and federal laws.
  • Supports the development, implementation, and enforcement of financial policies and procedures, including internal controls.
  • Monitors and continuously improves financial processes and systems through research and application of industry best practices.
  • Establishes strong financial discipline and a culture of accountability and customer service throughout the division.
  • Promotes systems of communication and collaboration between finance, admissions, business development, utilization review, and clinical teams.
  • Partners with the admissions and utilization review teams to evaluate the financial impact of the admissions process, ensuring it remains efficient and client focused.
  • Leads and promotes active communication with facility and department leaders around actual or potential financial risks or issues that could affect the division's fiscal health.
  • Provides regular supervision for finance staff, discussing challenges, successes, and opportunities to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of financial operations.
  • Collaborates with leadership to ensure proper interpretation and fulfillment of position functions, responsibilities, authority, and relationships.
  • Balances team and individual responsibilities; gives and welcomes feedback; puts team success over own interests.
  • Manages sensitive or complex financial matters with discretion, responds promptly to internal and external requests, and meets commitments.
  • Communicates clearly and concisely with the Corporate CFO, Division CEO, facility leadership, corporate finance, and all members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintains effective relationships with financial institutions, auditors, and organizations throughout the behavioral health field.
  • Provides financial presentations to leadership, the governing body, and other stakeholders, as needed.
  • Acts as a financial resource and escalation point for facility leadership when addressing budget or reporting issues.
  • Ensures timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes across the division.
  • Assists with financial due diligence, capital projects, and business development initiatives in coordination with the corporate finance team.
  • Reviews posted material, new policies, procedures or protocols, staff development announcements, communication log, etc., as needed.
  • Functions within the guidelines of the facility’s Code of Ethics and in accordance with corporate compliance.
  • Assists in promoting and ensuring the organization’s values, mission, goals, and objectives are understood and actively supported by the employees.
