Requirements

  • Degree in business, human resources, human rights, or a related discipline with four (4) years’ experience in the development and implementation of employee diversity, equity and inclusion policies, procedures and programs; or
  • Diploma in business, human resources, human rights, or a related discipline with six (6) years’ experience in the development and implementation of employee diversity, equity and inclusion policies, procedures and programs
  • Demonstrated experience in providing advice to leaders on matters related to employee DEI and/or human rights; and communicating DEI programs and initiatives to employees and external community groups.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation and related regulations including the Human Rights Code of Ontario.
  • Extensive knowledge of DEI community considerations and a strong commitment to anti-racism, equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Knowledge and experience in measuring and interpreting employee DEI outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Lived experience as a member of one or more marginalized groups with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities affecting Indigenous peoples, visible minorities, persons with disabilities, 2SLGTBQ+ individuals, and women, is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Create, coordinate and implement an employee Corporate DEI program that includes employer focused policies, procedures, and tools to drive systemic and structural changes to remove barriers, embed diversity, equity and inclusion in all aspects of the employee experience (recruitment, selection, hiring, development, retention).
  • Build and deliver employee programs, policies, and procedures to support the attraction and retention of talent while ensuring compliance with government legislation.
  • Lead and coordinate the advancement of the Corporation’s employment outreach & retention plan.
  • As a subject matter expert, consult, advise, and collaborate with the Human Resources Division, leaders, and community groups to support ongoing initiatives and provide feedback through a DEI lens to leaders on new and ongoing projects to enhance diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Conduct ongoing organizational assessments/audits and identify barriers/gaps, develop recommendations and coordinate initiatives to ensure policies, practices, and systems are equitable and support the recruitment, hiring, retention, development, and advancement of under-represented groups.
  • Support the development and analysis of the Workforce Census and assists with reporting on data and metrics and other data sources to identify and report on successes, opportunities, and challenges, aligning performance metrics with initiatives and outcomes.
  • Prepare and assist with reports and presentations for leadership and Council to facilitate strategic decisions to support projects and transformational strategies related to employee DEI advancement.
