About The Position

The Denver District Attorney's Office is seeking an Adult Diversion Officer to join their team. This role involves interviewing potential candidates for diversion programs, conducting assessments, developing case plans, making referrals to services, preparing reports, monitoring client progress, and facilitating cognitive/behavioral classes. The officer will also attend required trainings and meetings, serve on committees, and coordinate with community partners. The position requires strong organizational skills, initiative, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. The mission of the Denver District Attorney's Office is to prosecute crimes, investigate criminal activity, seek equal justice, prevent crime, support victims, be transparent and accountable, and provide fair alternatives to incarceration.

Requirements

  • Experience working with youth or adults and an understanding of community resources
  • An understanding of the Risk-Need-Responsivity Model to assess and treat offenders.
  • Working knowledge of strategies to reducing recidivism
  • Ability to adapt to fast past environment and handle multiple priorities
  • An understanding of working with grants and program data collection, and assist the office in reporting outcome measures to grantors on a quarterly basis
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and written
  • Energy to invest the time and effort into program clients who may be resistant to change
  • Experience working within a team structure and positively contributing to department goals
  • Bachelors Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Criminal Justice, or a related field
  • Two (2) years of experience in performing case management including completing comprehensive needs assessments and developing/implementing case plans OR one (1) year of experience in case work and counseling in areas such as Diversion, Probation, alcohol and drug abuse, community-based treatment case management, or a closely related area
  • A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements
  • Valid work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Interviewing appropriate adult candidates for potential Diversion inclusion.
  • Scheduling and completing intakes with candidates.
  • Conducting assessment interviews with candidates using screening tools to appraise and interpret an adult’s risk factors.
  • Making client referrals to appropriate need-based services upon program acceptance.
  • Developing individual case plans and setting SMART goals with clients.
  • Preparing required reports, maintaining client files and records, and preparing recommendations for sentencing and treatment.
  • Ensuring program paperwork and court documents are completed accurately and timely.
  • Monitoring client progress through supervision meetings and case notes.
  • Verifying clients have completed agreed-upon goals/activities.
  • Motivating clients to change using Motivational Interviewing strategies.
  • Meeting with clients, family members, and/or other service providers to discuss progress and solutions.
  • Recommending corrective action for clients in non-compliance.
  • Notifying the District Attorney of client non-compliance and testifying in court as needed.
  • Preparing and conducting various cognitive/behavioral classes and developing curriculum.
  • Attending required trainings and meetings.
  • Serving on committees and recommending changes to improve services/facilities.
  • Coordinating and/or attending meetings with community-based partners, city personnel, and other governmental agencies.
  • Organizing work, setting priorities, determining resource requirements, and setting short or long-term goals.
  • Coordinating with other organizations or parts of an organization.
  • Monitoring progress and evaluating outcomes.
