About The Position

Casper College is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Criminal Justice Instructor to teach face-to-face, on-campus courses. This position primarily focuses on introductory criminal justice and forensic science, including courses such as Intro to Criminal Justice, Advanced Firearms, Introduction to Automated Fingerprint Identification Systems, Criminal Investigation I, Criminal Law I, Law of Evidence, Police Administration, Criminal Procedure, Introduction to Corrections, The Community and the Police, and Criminalistics. The role involves departmental duties, maintaining office hours, attending faculty meetings, and serving on college committees. Staying current with Criminal Justice and Forensic Science scholarship and industry trends is vital. This is a 9-month faculty position intended to start at the beginning of the Spring 2027 semester.

Requirements

Master's Degree from an accredited institution in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Administration of Justice, or related discipline; OR Master's Degree in any discipline AND at least 18 graduate hours in Criminal Justice, Administration of Justice, or related discipline from an accredited institution; OR Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Administration of Justice, or related discipline AND a minimum of 5 years of full-time relevant professional experience in law enforcement, corrections, the courts, or a related criminal justice field.
Experience and commitment to the mission of a comprehensive community college.

A functional understanding of artificial intelligence and large language models, how it is being utilized in the higher education environment, and experience building strategies to adapt to the evolving medium.

Responsibilities

Instructing scheduled courses using diverse teaching methods in both face-to-face and digital formats.
Preparing syllabi and assessment materials to evaluate and report student progress in a timely manner.
Maintaining accurate records and establishing regular office hours for student consultation.
Advising students on academic curricula.
Serving on committees.
Participating in faculty meetings.
Providing recommendations for preparation of departmental or school budgets.
Participating in the development of school curricula.
Adhering to all institutional policies.
Remaining current in their field by reading current literature, communicating with colleagues, and participating in professional development conferences.
Teach a variety of Criminal Justice courses in multiple formats including conventional face-to-face courses and digital learning formats in criminal justice.
Participate in on-going curriculum development and learning assessment.
Engage in various department, school, and college administrative duties (e.g., student advising, assessment, curriculum development, student recruitment, student orientations, keeping accurate records, learning communities, service-learning, international education, and honors program).
Maintain required office hours, attend faculty and school meetings, participate in faculty development, and serve on college committees as assigned.
Keep accurate records.
Evaluate student performance.
Contribute to course, program-specific, and college-wide outcomes assessment with the Assessment office.
Advise students.
Participate in faculty development and student recruitment.
Perform other duties as requested or required by the administration/dean/department.
