About The Position

The District Visual Merchandiser is responsible for ensuring the integrity of The Paper Store brand through consistent execution of merchandising direction within a district(s). This role will oversee multiple districts across Connecticut and Long Island. The District Visual Merchandiser exercises independent judgment and discretion in developing strategies to uphold the visual merchandising standards within a district(s). This individual takes accountability for product and presentation direction; identifies needs, develops plans, and follows up to ensure effective execution. The District Visual Merchandiser will contribute to the overall sales of the store by modelling the GUEST program and creating a visually inspiring environment that is merchandised appropriately. In addition, you will be responsible for supporting store projects both within and outside of your assigned district, creating and setting store directions.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of specialty retail visual merchandising experience, including store management and presentation execution, is required.
  • BS/BA required (preferably in visual merchandising)
  • Excellent merchandising skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Professional presentation in attire, demeanor, and appearance
  • Having previous experience in specialty retail visual merchandising is required
  • Retail management experience, including visual merchandising and presentation experience
  • BS/BA required (preferably in visual merchandising)
  • 4+ years of retail visual merchandising experience

Responsibilities

  • Be a TPS brand ambassador
  • Demonstrate extraordinary service by leading by example on the sales floor and participate in the customer experience as needed by facilitating seamless customer service
  • Implement company visual /merchandising planograms in appropriate time frames to drive store sales
  • Drive brand loyalty by ensuring exceptional customer experience through well-merchandised, visually engaging, brand appropriate environments throughout the district
  • Ensure district(s) team understands the brand aesthetic; reinforces company goals and objectives at store level
  • Provide feedback/solutions, successes/opportunities regarding store presentations to store management, district manager(s) and regional visual manager
  • Demonstrate a strong working relationship with store managers & visual managers and demonstrates ability to challenge at this level to influence key visual decisions in stores
  • Oversee the mapping, planning and implementation of all visual presentations within district(s)
  • Resolve store specific merchandising challenges that require adaptations based on store architecture, inventory levels, and business trends, in line with the presentation book and seasonal strategies; works ‘hands on’ with store teams
  • Develop creative merchandising solutions to drive sales and margin
  • Partner with DM to identify developmental opportunities of store staff
  • Assist in the interviewing and selection of visual merchandising associates
  • Participate and support the planning, executing and follow up of key rollouts and initiatives
  • Effectively lead other department managers and specialists in all areas of visual presentation and work collaboratively with them to ensure a harmonious physical presentation
  • Drive innovation and seek creative solutions to merchandising problems that arise, such as lack of space, inconsistencies in floor layout, product sell through, etc.
  • Ensure all marketing and promotion signage is up to date and placed correctly
  • Participate in all New Store Openings & Remodels w/ in their district
  • Partner w/ the Retail Store Project Manager at all New Store Openings & Remodel w/ in their district
  • Travel outside of district to New Store Openings & Remodel when needed
  • Act as a brand ambassador by modeling the G.U.E.S.T. service approach, and consistently delivering world class customer service.
  • Coach other associates on how to deliver world class service and provide feedback to individual store leadership and district management
