About The Position

The State Highway Administration's (SHA) District 7 (Frederick County) is currently recruiting for an District Utility Engineer (Transportation Engineering Manager II) position. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. All eligible candidates must meet the minimum and selective qualifications by the closing date. Nature of Work: This position supervises and administers engineering technicians, contractors, and consultants to ensure that SHA maintains thorough and proper inspection of all Utility Relocation work, Engineering Access Permits, and Utility Permits within engineering District 7. This work includes managing the unit's assignments. This position is also responsible for setting standards and coordinating work with other divisions as well as contractors and local municipalities on a variety of complex engineering projects and processes in highway construction, hydraulics, bridge, traffic, and facility design and construction for electric, water and sewer, gas, communications, and fiber optic systems.

Requirements

Possession of a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
Eight (8) years experience in professional engineering, including one (1) year of supervisory or consultant management experience.
Four (4) years of the required experience must have involved utility inspection, utility coordination, and/or project management.
Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in state of Maryland.
Ability to report within 1 (one) hour.
Legally authorized to work in the United States under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

Nice To Haves

Additional work experience in professional engineering, or in technical engineering at the journey level or above, may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.
Possession of a Master's Degree in engineering may be substituted for one year of the non- supervisory experience.
Persons currently registered as Professional Engineers in the State of Maryland, or in a state with comparable requirements, are considered to have met the education requirements.
