Bell County District Attorney's Office We are looking for felony prosecutors with all levels of experience. Prosecutors in our office are responsible for intake evaluation, grand jury preparation, and prosecution through trial of assigned cases. In our office, you will have the opportunity to work with a group of career prosecutors and manage your own docket with all levels of felonies. We are looking for prosecutors who enjoy working with a team and having the freedom to make decisions in the handling of their case load. Our office provides the resources for you to succeed, with benefits including your yearly CLE, state bar dues and membership to both TDCAA and NDAA. We prefer a prosecutor with a minimum of two years felony experience as a prosecutor, or equivalent. Like all offices, you need to be licensed by the State of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas. Bell County is a growing county, located an hour north of Austin on the I35 corridor, with two beautiful lakes, good school districts, and big city amenities with a small-town feel. Requirements

  • Requires graduation from an accredited Law School and admitted to the practice of law in the State of Texas supplemented by two (2) years of litigation experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
  • Requires a license to practice law in the State of Texas.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
  • Licensed by the State of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.

  • We prefer a prosecutor with a minimum of two years felony experience as a prosecutor, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts complaints and indictments
  • Screens cases submitted by law enforcement, evaluates and reviews evidence, reports, and recordings
  • Determines appropriate criminal charges
  • Advises law enforcement and investigators when further investigation is needed
  • Represents the State in District Court for hearings and trials
  • Determines appropriate sentence recommendations
  • Reads and researches case law
  • Complies with discovery requirements
  • Handles assigned cases through disposition, with the support of a separate appellate division
  • Represents the State in probation revocation hearings
  • Performs related work as required
  • Intake evaluation
  • Grand jury preparation
  • Prosecution through trial of assigned cases
