About The Position

As the District Senior Manager (DSM), Home Financing, you are responsible for leading a team of Home Financing Advisors (HFAs), Home Financing Associates (Associates), and Home Financing Officers (HFOs) towards achieving established sales targets and meeting the overall goals for the Home Financing Team. You will work closely with HFAs to ensure that sales management activities, disciplines, and behaviors are instilled and sustained to meet business objectives of Home Financing Solutions. The focus is on sales and people management by providing value-added feedback and coaching to HFAs to assist them in realizing their fullest potential to maximize mortgage sales and revenue. In addition, you will provide support to the Regional Sales Director (RSD).

Requirements

  • 8 - 10 years of related industry experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing large teams
  • University Degree or College diploma in related discipline
  • Expert residential mortgage product knowledge, including policy and process
  • Expert knowledge of sales management disciplines
  • Maintaining current knowledge of mortgage lending policies and procedures and of the real estate market/property values/sales trends/competitor programs in the area necessary to respond appropriately to business requirements

Responsibilities

  • Deliver objectives as measured within a Balanced Scorecard (BSC) that includes Financial Objectives (funded mortgage volume, cross-sell, Key Partner development, productivity), Customer Experience (measured by survey results), and Operational Effectiveness (risk, compliance, operational process).
  • Lead and manage a team of Home Financing Advisors by focusing on sales management activities and principles, providing direction, guidance, and support, fostering relationships with referral sources, conducting coaching sessions and sales meetings, observing interactions and providing feedback, working with Regional Sales Directors on business plans for HFAs, and acting as a mentor.
  • Lead the implementation of initiatives and achievement of business objectives in the District by defining roles, tasks, and expectations, developing and implementing marketing strategies, championing new approaches, motivating HFAs through business development activities, resolving issues between HFAs and partners, and ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulations.
  • Provide direction, guidance, and support to the Regional Sales Director and partners by recommending new hires and preparing probationary reviews.
  • Establish and monitor goals for Direct Reports by defining high standards, negotiating goals and priorities, and initiating tactical responses for ongoing improvement.
  • Maintain a market profile within the District by identifying and meeting with key business contacts, working with District Vice Presidents and Branch Managers on customer relationships, developing Home Finance Advisor skills in relationship development, and managing day-to-day administration.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles, ensuring adequacy and adherence to business controls for operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
