About The Position

The District Sales Manager is responsible for developing, training, and directing Sales Representatives to achieve sales goals and placement objectives, ensuring company standards are met. This role involves strategic sales negotiations, setting up schedules for new and existing accounts, and surveying the market to identify business trends and opportunities. The manager will also assist in sales forecasting, planning activities, controlling sales performance, and executing sales and promotional activities. Additionally, the role includes conducting weekly sales meetings, preparing reports, managing selling expenses, and overseeing territory management when Sales Representatives are on vacation. A key part of the role is managing the merchandising staff, including hiring, disciplinary actions, performance reviews, and scheduling. The manager must also control labor hours within budget and ensure proper stocking, pricing, rotation, display standards, and cleanliness of products and shelves.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • One to two years related experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be 21 years old.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a good driving record.
  • Must have proof of auto insurance (SR-22 is not acceptable).
  • Must own means of reliable transportation.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be self-motivated and a self-starter.
  • Must be able to work with very little direct supervision.
  • Highly organized, with a strong ability to work quickly and accurately while handling competing priorities.

  • Minimum of 5 years of beverage sales supervision experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, trains, and directs Sales Representatives to achieve sales goals and placement objectives.
  • Conducts strategic sales negotiations with key accounts.
  • Sets up schedules and appointments to obtain new accounts and service existing accounts with Sales Representatives.
  • Surveys market area, quotes, and orders to detect business trends and opportunities.
  • Assists in the development of sales forecasts and scheduling of product.
  • Plans activities by forecasting conditions, defining objectives and strategies, and securing resources.
  • Controls and manages sales performance by measuring and reporting results, evaluating and correcting performance, and administering policies and procedures.
  • Plans and executes sales and promotional activities to counter competitive trends.
  • Conducts weekly sales meetings to disseminate supplier information, product, and sales training.
  • Prepares and maintains required paperwork, reports, and records.
  • Manages selling expenses to authorized levels.
  • Manages territory when a Sales Representative is on vacation.
  • Prepares and executes appropriate promotions.
  • Manages the merchandising staff, including hiring, disciplinary action, performance reviews, and weekly scheduling.
  • Manages labor hours within the merchandising department to keep them under or at budget levels.
  • Manages all merchandising duties to assure products are stocked properly, have proper price points, are rotated timely, sets and displays meet standards, and display equipment and shelves are clean and breakage is handled timely.
