About The Position

We are seeking energetic, passionate people who enjoy the outdoors and want to play a key role for the position of District Park & Watercraft Manager for the East District, within the Division of Parks & Watercraft. The final location will be determined with the selected candidate. Experience something new every day while overseeing state parks with varying resources, budgets, projects & goals; Assist managers that oversee facilities, resources, & operations for state parks within the division's East District (i.e., Barkcamp, Wolf Run, Burr Oak, Blue Rock, Dillon, Hocking, Salt Fork, Muskingum River, Jesse Owens) Collaborate with division & agency administrators to implement park programs, projects, policies & procedures; Formulate district goals & priorities; Provide technical guidance & direct supervision; Provide a great public relations impact for ODNR & the park district by providing exceptional customer service & managing stakeholder relationships; Participate in speaking engagements, marketing strategies, public information meetings, etc.; Coordinate activities with other park districts, ODNR division/offices & outside entities.

Requirements

  • Completion of graduate core program in natural resources management, parks & recreation management, facility management, hospitality management, business or public administration; 12 mos. exp. in natural resources or parks & recreation management, facility management, hospitality management, business or public administration; 12 mos. supervisory exp.; valid driver’s license.
  • Completion of undergraduate core program in natural resources management, parks & recreation management, facility management, hospitality management, business or public administration; 24 mos. exp. in natural resources management, parks & recreation management, facility management, hospitality management, business or public administration; 12 mos. supervisory exp.; valid driver’s license.
  • 48 mos. trg. or exp. in natural resources management, parks & recreation management, facility management, hospitality management, business or public administration; 12 mos. supervisory exp.; valid driver’ license.
  • 24 mos. exp. as Park & Watercraft Manager 1, 22516; valid driver’s license.
  • 12 mos. exp. as Park & Watercraft Manager 2, 22517; valid driver’s license.
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
  • Transcripts are required for all coursework, degrees or educational accomplishments claimed on the application.

Nice To Haves

  • Positions operating watercraft must complete boat operator education course per Ohio Revised Code 1547.05.

Benefits

  • Starting hourly pay of $43.09/hr with multiple pay increases over your first 6.5 years of service, with an end salary of $61.56/hr.
  • Possible cost of living adjustments (COLA) applied.
  • Longevity pay supplements begin after five (5) years of state service.
