Performs manual and clerical duties related to the shipment and receipt of materials, supplies, equipment, and finished products shipped via freight or third-party LTL carrier. This role involves typical shipping activities such as checking goods against shipping documents, packing goods for shipment, preparing bills of lading, posting weight and shipping charges, and attaching information and shipping instructions to boxes. The position also supports manufacturing areas with routine duties, maintains necessary files and documentation, and utilizes material handling equipment. Load planning for outbound trucks may be required to meet customer delivery requirements and cost parameters. The role requires effective communication with various internal and external stakeholders, building positive relationships, and coordinating resources to ensure products are handled, stored, and shipped according to guidelines at the lowest possible cost. Collaboration with management is expected to implement action plans, improve efficiencies, and assist with departmental activities, training, safety, and special projects. Compliance with safety regulations (OSHA, PPE, Safety Shoes) is mandatory, including reinforcing safety training and maintaining a clean and organized work area. Security of receiving/shipping dock doors is also a responsibility. The role may involve receiving activities such as unloading trucks, checking against documentation, and maintaining records of goods received. Participation in continuous training and development of employees and temporary labor, and responsibility for meeting ISO requirements are also key aspects of the position.
