About The Position

The Distribution Manager will be responsible for developing and directing programs to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of the facility. This role involves planning and scheduling all distribution services, including receiving, storing, shipping, handling returned/damaged goods, maintenance, and administrative activities to meet customer requirements. The manager will also oversee job assignments, plan daily and long-range labor needs based on sales forecasts, and make recommendations to senior management for operational improvements. Additionally, the role includes developing a space utilization plan, implementing an effective product locator system, directing warehouse supervisory personnel, and fostering a productive work team through hiring, training, and professional development programs. The position also requires ensuring timely and cost-effective shipping and receiving operations, accurate processing of paperwork, participation in budgeting and reporting, and maintaining the facility and equipment. A significant aspect of the role involves quality management, including dealing with quality issues, analyzing defects, preventing non-conforming products, issuing quality alerts, quarantining suspect material, acting as a customer service representative for quality, and reporting on the performance of the quality system. The manager is also responsible for ensuring the safety of personnel, equipment, and property, and promoting a continuous improvement philosophy.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ direct experience in a similar position.
  • Experience in warehousing management and broad knowledge of warehouse operations is necessary.
  • A broad range of management skills is required with particular emphasis on leadership, supervision, motivation, communication, and planning.
  • Must work safely and adhere to all company and customer safety policies and procedures and comply with necessary PPE as required.
  • Must have regular and predictable attendance.
  • Must be willing to work overtime when needed.
  • Must have a good working relationship with team members of all levels.
  • Must possess a positive teamwork attitude and get along well with others.
  • Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, reach, and climb.
  • Must be able to lift to 30 pounds unassisted.
  • Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours per day and do overtime as required.
  • Ability to deal with stress associated with meeting multiple deadlines and demands.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an effective receiving operation that minimizes cost and ensures receiving paperwork is processed accurately and promptly.

  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation, processing, distribution, and retention of all necessary reports and records regarding warehouse operations.

  • Acts as Customer Service Representative for quality and performs problem-solving and corrective action analysis reporting.
  • Regularly reports on the performance of the quality system for management review.
  • Assists with audits.
  • Submits budgetary information to track and control expenditures.
  • Ensures the safety of all personnel, equipment, and property.
  • Ensures continuous improvement of Philosophy.
  • Responsible for day-to-day quality decisions regarding products on the floor.
  • Responsible for ongoing maintenance of failure mode and effect analysis.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support business activities as needed.
