About The Position

Welty Energy is seeking a Distribution Engineering Technician to support projects as part of a team of Distribution line engineers and designers. This role will provide design services for utility clients. The position is expected to work near client sites in Eastern Pennsylvania, mirroring EST working hours, and may be considered for a remote position for the right candidate. Welty Energy specializes in program and project management, transmission line and distribution engineering, substation engineering, and construction oversight for projects ranging from 4kV to 765kV. The company manages approximately $500 million in construction projects nationally.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
5+ years of experience designing distribution projects utilizing AutoCAD and/or DDS (Distribution Design Studio).
Relevant experience on distribution design, focused on 12kV to 34.5kV preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Effective organizational skills.
Be able to travel 15-30% of the time based on business needs.

Responsibilities

Prepare construction plan documents as required per project.
Perform analysis/modeling of wood, steel, concrete, and ductile iron poles.
Provide technical assistance to the Welty Project Management Team as requested.
Verify projects are following all applicable client standards.
Utilize client software to manage drawings checked out by Welty.
Perform site visits when necessary.
Consult on internal projects when requested by the PM, Portfolio Manager, or Executive Vice President.
Perform Quality checks to ensure project quality and project completion before submitting project.
Perform Electrical Calculations (Load ratings, Transformer Sizing, etc.).
Be the main contact for team questions and technical issues.
Train new hires on software, engineering/construction processes, types of equipment, etc.
