About The Position

The Distribution Design Engineer identifies improvements and major repair needs on the distribution system. They assess the effect of alternative performance improvements on a cost/benefit basis and determine priorities. This role is responsible for engineering support to Field Engineering Design for any customer additions that require a substantial change to the distribution system. They plan system improvements in-line with customer needs and engineer circuit changes to improve performance for assigned circuits. The engineer reviews daily interruption reports, analyzes projected circuit deficiencies (e.g., voltage, overloads, etc.) for assigned circuits, and develops alternatives to improve circuit reliability. They recommend equipment replacement versus repair to maximize Return on Asset (ROA) and participate during major restoration efforts, including Emergency Preparedness. The Senior Distribution Design Engineer is responsible for the performance and design of the electrical distribution system. They are responsible for the development of projects to meet customer needs, capacity needs, and address performance concerns. This position works collaboratively with all other departments to address system performance, including but not limited to switching support, contingency planning, customer concerns, power quality issues, and any other distribution needs. This position will be responsible for the training and mentoring of other engineers within the group, including oversight of project creation, presentation, and documentation. This position will have leadership opportunities to lead 3-state engineering initiatives and will act as SME for distribution tools and engineering.
