This role involves identifying improvements and major repair needs on the distribution system, assessing the cost/benefit of alternative performance improvements, and determining priorities. The engineer will provide engineering support for customer additions requiring substantial distribution system changes, plan system improvements aligned with customer needs, and engineer circuit changes to enhance performance. Responsibilities include reviewing daily interruption reports, analyzing projected circuit deficiencies (e.g., voltage, overloads), developing alternatives to improve circuit reliability, and recommending equipment replacement versus repair to maximize Return on Asset (ROA). The position also requires participation in major restoration efforts and Emergency Preparedness. For the Senior Distribution Design Engineer role, in addition to the above, the engineer will be responsible for the performance and design of the electrical distribution system, developing projects for customer needs, capacity, and performance concerns. This senior role collaborates with all departments on system performance, including switching support, contingency planning, customer concerns, and power quality issues. It also involves training and mentoring other engineers, overseeing project creation, presentation, and documentation, and leading 3-state engineering initiatives as a subject matter expert for distribution tools and engineering. This is not a step progression and will be based on a behavioral interview and work experience.
