About The Position

This role is for a Distribution Center EH&S Specialist working on the 2nd shift as an on-site employee within the Tools & Outdoor team. The specialist will report to the EHS Manager and interact with various departments, regulatory agencies, and the Corporate EHS team. The primary focus is to provide daily EHS support to the Stanley Black & Decker Jackson Distribution Center and assist other sites as needed. The role involves maintaining an EHS management system to drive waste elimination, foster an accident-free culture, and ensure 100% regulatory compliance. This position will play a key role in improving the EHS management system, maintaining site EHS management system plans including ISO certifications and EHS RoadMap, and ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and security regulations. The specialist will also be responsible for training, investigating incidents, and maintaining safety contingency programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Safety or Environmental Sciences preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in maintaining an EHS culture in a warehouse environment preferred
  • knowledge of 29 CFR 1910 standards.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate will all levels within the organization.
  • Analytical skills and ability to gather and interpret complex sets of data.
  • Computer proficiency including use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and EHS Data Management system preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the EHS Manager and will directly interact with all departments, various regulatory agencies, and the Corporate EHS team.
  • Provide Daily EHS support of the Stanley Black & Decker Jackson Distribution Center and assistance to other sites as needed.
  • Maintain an EHS management system that is capable of driving results in waste elimination while also developing an accident-free culture and maintaining 100% regulatory compliance.
  • Help bring our team to the next level as we continually improve our EHS management system.
  • Maintain site EHS management system plans, including ISO certifications, EHS RoadMap, and interfaces with regulatory compliance.
  • Provide guidance and information to makers and team members regarding regulatory compliance as it relates to Employee Health and Safety.
  • Also, provides training regarding all mandatory OSHA compliance, site emergency response team, new hire safety orientation, and other site-specific hazard awareness training.
  • Assist in implementation of programs designed to improve workplace health, focusing on ergonomics, safe behaviors, hazard identification, etc.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal safety/health regulations.
  • Assist in annual EHS audits to support compliance certification; Implement audit corrective actions.
  • Ensure the site maintains current environmental, safety, and security data on the EHS website
  • Maintain leading indicator initiatives such as near-miss reporting, behavior-based safety, and employee engagement activities.
  • Investigate safety incidents and provide Root Cause Analysis.
  • Monitor changing and emerging safety standards and best practices, as well as assisting in implementation of programs and processes to address them.
  • Maintain safety contingency programs for all fire, spill, and other emergency response processes.
