Distribution Center Custodian
About The Position
The Custodian / Groundskeeper performs housekeeping, janitorial, and basic maintenance tasks throughout the distribution center to maintain a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment. The role supports interior cleaning and exterior grounds upkeep while assisting with general maintenance activities to help operations run efficiently. The position also supports seasonal exterior work, helps maintain designated work areas, follows established safety practices and procedures, and communicates custodial or maintenance issues to supervisors or distribution center leadership. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in custodial, janitorial, or facility maintenance work.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to follow instructions and consistently complete assigned tasks.
- Ability to operate basic cleaning equipment or willingness to learn.
- Understanding of basic safety practices in a warehouse or facility environment.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Basic knowledge of groundskeeping or facility maintenance practices.
- Experience operating groundskeeping equipment such as mowers or trimmers.
- Proficiency in one or more additional languages.
Responsibilities
- Perform housekeeping and janitorial duties throughout the distribution center.
- Empty trash and cardboard containers and sweep floor areas.
- Operate cleaning equipment, including floor scrubbers and cardboard balers.
- Maintain janitorial stations and keep cleaning supplies and equipment stocked and organized.
- Restock paper products and hand-cleaning supplies in restrooms and break areas.
- Communicate custodial or maintenance issues to supervisors or distribution center leadership.
- Assist with general maintenance and facility upkeep tasks as needed.
- Support groundskeeping duties, including lawn care, trash removal, and basic landscaping.
- Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow removal and exterior maintenance.
- Support organization and maintenance of work areas, such as tote repair or maintenance zones.
- Follow safety practices and identify unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Operate equipment and perform duties in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
