Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking outstanding early-career scientists and engineers for its Distinguished Staff Fellowship (DSF) Program. This program recognizes individuals who have excelled academically and professionally and show promise as future science leaders. The fellowships are offered in various research fields, including biology and the environment, clean energy, fusion and fission, isotope science, materials science, national security, neutron science, and supercomputing. Selected fellows will be named to one of three fellowships: Russell Fellows (biological sciences, biomolecular chemistry, computational biology, environmental and ecosystem sciences), Weinberg Fellows (applied, experimental, and computational sciences in chemistry, chemical engineering, radiochemistry, materials science and engineering, nuclear science and engineering, and manufacturing science and engineering), or Wigner Fellows (fundamental sciences in advanced materials, chemistry, computational science, neutron scattering, nuclear physics, and plasma and fusion energy sciences). Candidates should demonstrate their ability to contribute to cross-disciplinary research initiatives such as the future of computing, atoms to applications, nuclear solutions for national priorities, secure and resilient systems for abundant energy, and national security. The fellowship appointment spans 3 years, with the goal of establishing a foundation for a long-term career at ORNL.
