About The Position

Mill Creek Lumber and Supply Company is a leading provider of lumber and building materials, serving the construction industry since 1934. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality products and exceptional customer service. As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Dispatcher to join our team. As a Dispatcher at Mill Creek Lumber and Supply Company, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the efficient movement of our fleet of vehicles and equipment. Your primary responsibility will be to schedule and dispatch drivers, ensuring timely deliveries and pickups, while maintaining effective communication with drivers, customers, and internal departments. You will work closely with our transportation and fleet/safety team to optimize routes, monitor driver performance, and address any issues that may arise.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics or transportation management is a plus.
Proven experience as a Dispatcher or in a similar logistics role.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with drivers, customers, and colleagues.
Proficiency in using dispatching software and transportation management systems.
Solid knowledge of transportation regulations and industry best practices.
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Familiarity with geographic locations and routing strategies.
Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to handle unexpected situations efficiently.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining records and documentation.
Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays, as required.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

Schedule and dispatch drivers for deliveries and pickups in a timely and efficient manner.
Coordinate with customers, drivers, and internal departments to ensure accurate and on-time deliveries.
Monitor and track the progress of deliveries, resolving any issues or delays that may occur.
Optimize routes to maximize efficiency and minimize fuel consumption and travel time.
Maintain effective communication with drivers, providing them with necessary instructions, updates, and support throughout their routes.
Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
Collect and document relevant information, such as delivery confirmations, customer feedback, and driver performance data.
Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and requests professionally and promptly.
Collaborate with the transportation team to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions.
Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including driver logs, fuel consumption, and vehicle maintenance schedules.
Assist in the coordination of vehicle maintenance and repairs as needed.
Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and technological advancements related to dispatching operations.
Other duties as assigned.
