About The Position

The Dispatcher plays a critical role in ensuring efficient daily operations by coordinating drivers, managing schedules, and overseeing daily dispatch activities. This position requires strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to assign routes, monitor driver performance, and respond to operational challenges in real time.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service (HOS) requirements
  • Familiarity with dispatch systems, GPS tracking tools, and routing software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Quick decision-making and problem-solving ability

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary education in logistics, transportation, or related field is an asset
  • Experience in dispatching, transportation, logistics, or similar operational role preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assign drivers to routes based on job requirements, availability, and operational efficiency.
  • Schedule and coordinate driver shifts to ensure full route coverage.
  • Monitor and adjust schedules to accommodate delays, changes, or last-minute service requests.
  • Dispatch trucks to job sites and provide real-time updates on assignments.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between drivers and operations.
  • Provide drivers with route details, job instructions, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain constant communication via phone, radio, or dispatch systems.
  • Support drivers in resolving on-site issues and operational challenges.
  • Receive and respond to customer service requests, including missed pickups and delays.
  • Address service complaints and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to management as required.
  • Ensure compliance with Hours of Service (HOS) and DOT regulations.
  • Monitor driver logs, route efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to company safety policies and operational standards.
  • Track vehicle inspections and coordinate maintenance requirements.
  • Track and manage the location and availability of containers, dumpsters, and bins.
  • Ensure efficient container rotation and proper allocation to job sites.
  • Coordinate with operations to maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Maintain accurate dispatch logs, route adjustments, and service records.
  • Generate reports on driver performance, service efficiency, and operational trends.
  • Analyze dispatch data to identify opportunities for process improvement.
