About The Position

Our Dispatchers support the operations department by effectively scheduling drivers to achieve the maximum use of resources & equipment and ensure on time service is met. Candidates for this position must have previous experience dispatching local pick up and delivery routes for both tractor-trailers and box trucks. Our Dispatchers communicate with drivers and customers regarding details about shipments, arrival time, delays and discrepancies. Dispatchers arrange pick up, delivery, recovery and drops times. Dispatchers effectively communicate any special handling requirements, site location details or potential hazards or challenges. Our Dispatchers are responsible for daily and future route planning and understand available resources and equipment. Dispatchers understand DOT regulations and review daily drivers logs and maintains various records, such as those pertaining to, vehicle maintenance and repair, freight bills, arrival times, etc. This is a safety sensitive position that falls on federal security and drug regulations. California Sierra Express has been in business for over 35 years. We operate six freight terminals in CA and one in Reno. We're an overnight carrier that primarily serves international and domestic freight forwarders as a final mile Pick-Up and Delivery agent for shipments that travel from all over the globe by air, sea and land. You'll be joining a local team of over 70 people all committed to providing the best service possible to our customers who trust Cal Sierra to move their shipments on-time and without damage all throughout the greater Bay Area.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5-Years Trucking Dispatch Experience Required
  • Previous experience dispatching local pick up and delivery routes for both tractor-trailers and box trucks.
  • Solid understanding of TSA and DOT regulations as they pertain to handling of freight.
  • Understands customer service and is able to provide consistent quality service.
  • Knowledge of standard office procedures, practices, and skill in performing clerical work.
  • Familiar with computers and MS Office suite.
  • Detail orientated with the ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English; verbally and in writing.
  • Understands local geography and traffic patterns.
