About The Position

Airgas is hiring a Dispatcher I in Star, MS. This role partners closely with the production team to ensure a balanced, collaborative business partnership. The dispatcher will support driver scheduling, coordinate routes, destinations, and timelines for transporting freight. They will also support driver learning and growth around DOT compliance, regulations, and company processes, maintain open communication with customers regarding delivery updates, and track driver progress and essential operational details electronically. The role fosters ongoing driver support and engagement to ensure daily operational success, assists with coordinating regular truck maintenance, monitors Hours of Service for safety and well-being, and oversees freight loading and unloading to ensure safety standards and SOPs are met. The dispatcher also helps ensure shipping lanes flow smoothly to support production and floor space needs. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Proven experience in transportation dispatching or a related field is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in transportation management software and other related programs.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving tasks and decision-making abilities.
  • Forklift experience or willingness to gain experience is a must have
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Support driver learning and growth around DOT compliance, regulations, and company processes
  • Maintain open communication with customers regarding delivery updates and assist with providing tenders
  • Track driver progress and essential operational details electronically
  • Foster ongoing driver support and engagement to ensure daily operational success
  • Assist with coordinating regular truck maintenance alongside shop personnel
  • Monitor Hours of Service to support safety and well-being
  • Actively engage in oversight of freight loading and unloading to ensure safety standards and SOPs are met
  • Help ensure shipping lanes flow smoothly to support production and floor space needs
  • Other duties as assigned
