About The Position

The Dispatch Manager will provide strategic oversight, long-term planning, and departmental performance management. This role involves workflow optimization, carrier allocation strategy, vendor relations, and technology adoption. The manager will establish KPIs, safety protocols, and ensure SOP compliance. Responsibilities include handling macro vendor/carrier disputes, managing departmental budgets, and ensuring cross-functional alignment. The position also involves mentoring and evaluating supervisors, managing a team of dispatches, and overseeing overall staffing strategy and hiring. This role serves as a direct contact with Key Customers and is an escalation point for Security and Stakeholders (internal and external).

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in domestic transportation and/or domestic supply chain management.
  • Experience with high value, Hot Shot Delivery Trucks.
  • Knowledge and proven experience with planning and optimization.
  • Previous experience successfully managing a team of five or more people.
  • Proven experience with coordinating escorts for high value shipments.
  • Experience handling high volume cross dock shipments coming through the warehouse.
  • Must have experience and knowledge of international transport (air import).
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, while exercising sound judgement.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to solve complex problems.
  • Must be a confident self-starter who can develop effective business relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Candidates must be self-motivated, customer service oriented, and eager to ensure the success of the team.
  • Ability to function independently, with minimal supervision, and thrive within a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • Excellent computer knowledge, advanced Microsoft Office proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic oversight, long-term planning, and departmental performance management.
  • Optimize workflow, develop carrier allocation strategy, manage vendor relations, and drive technology adoption.
  • Establish KPIs, safety protocols, and ensure SOP compliance.
  • Handle macro vendor/carrier disputes, manage departmental budgets, and ensure cross-functional alignment.
  • Mentor and evaluate supervisors, manage a team of dispatches, and oversee overall staffing strategy and hiring.
  • Serve as direct contact with Key Customers.
  • Act as an escalation point for Security and Stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Monitor appointment stability metrics for receivers and escalate any receiver issues to Key Account Management.
  • Ensure timely and accurate cost accrual, invoice processing, and billing to customers.
  • Report and monitor shipments irregularities in SEMS (Shipment Exemption Management System).
  • Drive cost reductions by improving truck utilization and route optimization (consolidation).
  • Serve as the point of contact for all escalation delivery problems for truckers and find resolutions.
  • Work closely with the Domestic Transportation Team on trucking service procurement, carrier QBR, and domestic trucking RFQs and ad hoc pricing requests.
  • Form strong partnerships with carriers, monitor and record carrier performance (Scorecard), and ensure adherence to MEC pick-up, in-transit, and delivery procedures.
  • Work closely with security on enhancing load security.
  • Coordinate escorts for high value shipments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
