About The Position

This is a non-represented position (no union affiliation) and is subject to the provisions of the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage. Under the supervision of the Transit PM Operations Superintendent, lead day-to-day transit operations activity. Activities include, but are not limited to logistical support, accidents, detours, schedule adherence; supervision of dispatch specialist(s) and bus operators; responsible for bus operator work assignments, daily timecard and scheduling comparison, ensures accuracy of activities are recorded in appropriate software, files, etc. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and eight (8) years of transportation operations or logistics experience, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory, lead, or administrative capacity.
  • OR Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Information Systems, Civil Engineering, Logistics, Planning, or similar discipline and six (6) years of transportation operations or logistics experience, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory, lead, or administrative capacity.
  • OR Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Computer Information Systems, Civil Engineering, Logistics, Planning, or similar discipline and four (4) years of transportation operations or logistics experience, two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory, lead, or administrative capacity.
  • A valid State of Alaska Driver’s License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
  • Satisfactory background check which includes criminal, education, and employment history at time of hire.
  • Satisfactory drug test at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day transit operations activity.
  • Provide logistical support.
  • Manage accidents and detours.
  • Ensure schedule adherence.
  • Supervise dispatch specialist(s) and bus operators.
  • Assign bus operator work.
  • Compare daily timecards and schedules.
  • Ensure accuracy of recorded activities in appropriate software and files.
