About The Position

The Dispatch Coordinator coordinates the timely movement of customer product safely and efficiently, in compliance with company rules and DOT regulations. The role assigns workload to available drivers, monitors product movements, resolves delivery and scheduling issues, and uses Ruan transportation management systems to capture required operational data accurately in near real time. This is a full-time onsite position in Greensboro, North Carolina. The schedule is Thursday through Saturday and every other Wednesday, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
1–2 years of transportation, dispatching, terminal assistant, customer service, or other related experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
Strong working knowledge of dispatch-system technology and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

Coordinate timely pickup and delivery of customer orders within the assigned area while meeting customer expectations and efficiently utilizing drivers and equipment.
Direct and schedule drivers’ work, communicate assignments, and monitor driver activities and performance to support on-time, efficient movement of goods.
Identify and resolve daily service and scheduling issues; escalate issues to management as appropriate and communicate professionally with customer contacts about service impacts and performance.
Monitor drivers’ hours of service to prevent DOT violations.
Communicate with customers regularly and promptly regarding issues affecting service or customer expectations.
Prepare and process operational data and paperwork, including driver activities in computer systems, activity reports and trip documents, driver hours of service, fuel tickets, and other required items.
Update driver and dispatch information in the dispatch system in real time.
Monitor and promote safety in all areas of dispatch.
