About The Position

This is a seasonal position available during our Winter Camp season (January–March) & Summer Camp Season (June-September). The primary role is to provide support in the Guest Dining Department with a special emphasis on dishwashing responsibilities, ensuring all tasks are performed according to sanitary requirements and department procedures. The position also involves maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of dishwashing areas, dumbwaiters, stairs, and trash rooms. Additionally, the dishwasher will assist with basic food preparation, food deliveries, cleaning and maintaining coolers and warmers, and reporting any needed repairs to the supervisor. There is an expectation to develop capabilities in basic food preparation and to actively participate in staff spiritual life activities.

Requirements

  • Working towards high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid food handler’s card, or willingness to obtain card.
  • Ability to hear from God and pray for people, both over the phone and in person.
  • Assume responsibility for initiating a pleasant atmosphere by displaying a professional attitude through performance, appearance, and demeanor.
  • Regular, timely attendance.
  • Signed statement of faith.
  • A self-starter.
  • Able to perform high quality, detailed work.
  • Good people service skills, with the ability to provide service and streamline processes without compromising the integrity of the department or Forest Home and its policies and procedures.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit.
  • Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate light and heavy kitchen machinery and kitchen tools.
  • Requires moderate to heavy physical work; some lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects up to 50 pounds or over.
  • Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers.
  • Requires speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person.

Responsibilities

  • Performs dishwashing responsibilities according to sanitary requirements and department procedures.
  • Maintains the dish machines and dishwashing area within sanitation guidelines.
  • Maintains the dumbwaiter and the stairs and ensures sanitation guidelines.
  • Monitors and maintains trash levels in kitchen.
  • Maintains cleanliness of trash rooms.
  • Reports needed repairs to the supervisor.
  • Assists with basic food preparation when needed.
  • Assists with food deliveries as directed by the supervisor and cleans and maintains coolers, warmers and equipment.
  • Seeks to develop capabilities in the area of basic food preparation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Actively participates in staff spiritual life activities.
