About The Position

The Dishwasher maintains clean and sanitary dishes, utensils, glassware, cookware, equipment, and kitchen areas in accordance with CJE SeniorLife standards. The role safely operates the dishwashing machine, ensures soap and rinse chemicals are loaded, removes damaged items from service, stocks delivered supplies, maintains storage areas, handles waste, and performs deep cleaning. The Dishwasher also helps maintain equipment temperatures and a safe, efficient work environment while following food-handling, hygiene, and safety requirements. The associate must pass the Illinois Food Handler Course within 60 days of hire, with up to three attempts, and maintain the required certification throughout employment. A high school diploma or GED is preferred; related experience or training may also qualify. The position involves extended periods standing and frequent lifting or moving of items up to 25 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.

Requirements

Pass the Illinois Food Handler Course within 60 days of hire; up to three attempts are provided, and certification must be maintained throughout employment.
Meet state and local health requirements for food handlers and possess a valid food handlers permit.
High school diploma or GED preferred, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; and present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations.
Apply common-sense understanding to detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions and handle problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Demonstrate customer-service behavior focused on client and customer needs, service, quality, and satisfaction.
Use hands and arms for handling and reaching; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
Stand for extended hours on a tile floor and maneuver independently and safely around the work area.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Have close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Have sufficient manual dexterity to operate a fire extinguisher and manipulate kitchen equipment, including slicers, choppers, processors, and knives.

Safely and efficiently operate the dishwashing machine according to its procedure manual.
Ensure soap and rinse chemicals are properly loaded for washing.
Remove damaged or broken dishes, utensils, and glassware from service.
Stock delivered food and non-food items.
Keep stock rooms, coolers, and freezers clean; rotate supplies and ensure perishables are covered, labeled, dated, and stored properly.
Empty and clear garbage bins, break down boxes, and wash carts and garbage bins.
Deep-clean kitchen floors, walls, and equipment.
Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment and ensure equipment temperature maintenance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
