About The Position

The Dishwashing Associate maintains cleanliness and sanitation standards for china, glassware, tableware, cooking utensils, and other kitchen items using machine and manual cleaning methods. The role also keeps designated work areas clean, safe, and sanitary in a kitchen environment.

The position performs dishwashing and general kitchen cleaning duties, including setting up or breaking down the dishwashing area, washing and sorting items, cleaning equipment and floors, removing trash, and addressing spills. Other job-related duties may be assigned as requested.

Requirements

• Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Ability to read and understand work instructions and assignments.
• Must be patient and tolerant toward staff, residents, and family members.
• Must have or be willing to receive a hepatitis A vaccine if working inside St. Louis County.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up or break down the dishwashing area.
• Sort and rinse dirty dishes, glasses, tableware, and other cooking utensils.
• Place rinsed items in racks for the dishwashing machine.
• Wash pots, pans, and trays by hand.
• Sort and stack clean dishes.
• Allow dishes and other items to dry according to department practices and procedures.
• Carry clean dishes to the cook’s line and other proper storage areas; rewash soiled dishes before delivery.
• Change dishwater in the dishwashing machine and/or sinks as instructed.
• Notify the manager if the dish machine wash or rinse cycle falls below safety-standard temperatures.
• Clean the dish machine as instructed.
• Remove trash and garbage to the dumpster.
• Clean and roll or unroll mats.
• Fill or empty soak tubs with cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
• Sweep and mop floors.
• Sweep up trash as instructed.
• Conduct general cleaning as directed.
• Wipe up spills to ensure safety.
• Perform deep cleaning as assigned.
• Follow other job-related instructions and perform other duties as requested.
