About The Position

The incumbent in this position is responsible for washing dishes, pots, etc., and ensuring their cleanliness. This role involves maintaining a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, including floors, drains, and major traffic areas. The dishwasher is also responsible for cleaning larger kitchen equipment such as kettles, ovens, hoods, fryers, and flat top broilers, as well as polishing all stainless steel surfaces in the kitchen. The position requires knowledge and safe use of various cleaning chemicals, including the periodic use of protective gloves and eyewear. Maintaining a clean work area, including the dish machine, shelving, and carts, is essential. The role also includes performing other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform duties and operate equipment in a working environment subject to varying levels of cold, heat, noise, and vibrations.
  • Ability to work in an environment with hazards such as wet floors, taking proper precautions.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently move around the work area.
  • Ability to stand for the majority of the shift.
  • Ability to inspect all work performed.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, carrying, climbing, walking long distances, reaching, and twisting.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and move loads of up to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to clean kitchen equipment and tools including slicer, steamer, deep fryer, ovens, broiler, grill, mixer, kettle, flat top, choppers, and knives.
  • Ability to sort all plateware, silverware, kitchen utensils, pots/pans, and other items.
  • Ability to review and comprehend all necessary documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of team members.
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a manner that reflects a positive professional image.

Responsibilities

  • Wash dishes, pots, and other kitchenware, ensuring cleanliness.
  • Clean floors, floor mats, and drains in the kitchen.
  • Sweep and mop all major traffic areas of the kitchen.
  • Clean large kitchen equipment including kettles, ovens, hoods, fryers, flat top broilers, and spider tops.
  • Polish all stainless steel in the kitchen area.
  • Use and understand several chemicals, utilizing protective gloves and eyewear as needed.
  • Keep the work area (floor, machine, shelving, carts, etc.) clean.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
