About The Position

This is a full-time position at Ruby’s Southern Comfort Kitchen in Bowie, MD. We’re a busy, well-known restaurant and we take our environment seriously — inside and outside the building. This is an essential role and if hired, you’ll be the glue that keeps us all together. It's one of the most important roles in the building. Our guests notice everything. A clean bathroom. A tidy dining room. A welcoming entrance before they even walk through the door. We don't take that lightly. You'll touch every part of this restaurant — kitchen, restrooms, dining room, and the outside of the building. Every shift. If you take pride in your work and don't need someone standing over you to get it done, you'll fit right in here. It’s physical, it’s consistent, and it matters. If you’re someone who takes ownership of a space and doesn’t need to be told twice — this is a solid opportunity.

Requirements

  • Dependable — you show up every shift, on time, ready to go
  • Able to stay on your feet for a full shift and lift up to 50 lbs
  • You can manage your responsibilities without someone checking on you constantly
  • Weekend availability is a must — that’s our busiest time

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in janitorial, custodial, or restaurant kitchen work is a plus — we’ll train the right person

Responsibilities

  • Wash, sanitize, and restock all dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment throughout each shift
  • Keep the dish area and surrounding kitchen clean — floors, pit area, sanitizer levels, machine temps
  • Restock the line with clean small wares so cooks can keep moving without interruption
  • Assist with basic prep when the kitchen needs an extra set of hands
  • Sweep and mop kitchen floors before, during, and after service
  • Remove kitchen trash and keep the back-of-house clear
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms on a regular schedule throughout the day — toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors
  • Restock paper products, soap, and supplies before they run out
  • Do a final deep clean at the end of each shift
  • Flag any maintenance issues — broken fixtures, leaks, anything that needs attention
  • Assist with dining room cleanliness as needed during service — floors, spills, high-traffic areas
  • Wipe down surfaces, chairs, and any common areas when the team needs support
  • Keep the dining room looking sharp, especially during peak hours
  • Sweep, blow, and maintain the entrance, walkways
  • Keep the dumpster area clean and organized
  • Remove trash and debris from the exterior of the building
  • Report any facility damage, safety issues, or repair needs to management
