About The Position

We are seeking candidates who have a passion for craft beverages, awesome food, hospitality and the desire to be a part of a team. Reporting to the Executive Chef this critical position performs a variety of duties associated with cleaning, organizing and keeping the kitchen area, cooking tools and equipment sanitized. You are responsible for supporting and ensuring the standards, protocols and processes established by the Executive Chef are in compliance. This position is located at our Carmel Bistro and is an hourly full time position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to lift correctly and to neatly arrange cleaned food preparation equipment
  • Ability to understand directions and communicate clearly with supervisor and co-workers
  • Able to stand, walk, and be on your feet for prolonged periods
  • Able to maneuver on uneven ground
  • Able to read and follow written English instructions
  • Able to regularly twist, turn, kneel, climb, stoop, bend, and occasionally crawl
  • Lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 50+ pounds using appropriate techniques and tools
  • Able to safely navigate crowded spaces
  • Operate food preparation appliances and machinery
  • Able to tolerate exposure to extreme changes in temperature
  • Able perform daily repetitive hand movements as it pertains to food preparation
  • Able to work in an environment which may be loud, slick, humid, cold, and hot
  • Able to work in indoor and outdoor environments with moderate noise and occasionally slippery floors
  • Able to comply with and enforce all health, safety, and personal hygiene policies and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate dishwashing machinery
  • Clean and store silverware
  • Maintain the highest level of cleanliness in the kitchen
  • Set-up dishwashing machines and pot washing stations
  • Maintain proper levels of chemicals in all dispensing equipment
  • Restock silverware, china, pots and pans to preparation or service areas
  • Keeping the dishwashing area clean and safe
  • Taking out garbage receptacles and compost bins
  • Remove mats, sweep and mop floors
  • Wash and polish all stainless steel.
  • Wash and clean, using proper cleaning products: refrigerators, freezers, stoves, ovens, fryers, steam table, grills, griddles, steamers, kettle, mixers, choppers and slicers, shelves, walls, windows and doors
  • Keeping the receiving area clean, including breaking down boxes, organizing recycling, hosing down area
  • Supporting the kitchen policy of recycling
  • Mopping floors, cleaning equipment and walk-in areas
  • Cleaning bathrooms
  • Other various tasks as assigned
  • Comply with all Company safety and health policies and procedures
