About The Position

The Dishroom Clerk supports a clean, safe, and well-run kitchen by keeping equipment, dishes, utensils, and work areas clean. The role provides friendly customer service, works cooperatively with the team, and stays active throughout the shift. Duties also include handling food safely, removing trash, answering customer calls, assisting elsewhere in the store as needed, and following hygiene, dress, and store standards. Night and weekend shifts are required.

Requirements

• Ability to follow detailed written or verbal instructions and complete tasks involving a few concrete variables.
• Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions.
• Ability to communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
• Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with cleaning and sanitation duties.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen is a condition of employment.
• Night and weekend shifts are required.

Nice To Haves

• Six months or less of similar or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers with a smile.
• Wash department equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, and pans thoroughly and consistently.
• Handle food safely and keep the work area clean and neat.
• Remove trash promptly and take department garbage to the compactor or designated area.
• Answer the telephone promptly and assist callers in a friendly and helpful manner.
• Work with co-workers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Assist in other areas of the store and take on special projects as assigned.
• Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
• Report to work as scheduled and on time.
