About The Position

At Black Bear Diners, the Dish Machine Operator owns the dishwashing process, ensuring utensils and service ware are cleaned, sanitized, and stocked so other crew members can work smoothly and guests have a positive experience. The role follows company standards, maintains an organized dishroom, and supports other employees with cleaning and organizing as needed. Duties may be assigned or changed by management, including for reasonable accommodation or other reasons.

Requirements

Patience, a good sense of humor, and enthusiasm.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and multitask.
Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to stand for long periods and work on hard surfaces.
Ability to reach above and below waist level; bend, stoop, and squat during cleaning activities.
Frequent manual dexterity with both hands, including pushing, pulling, handling, gripping, and fine finger control.
Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb step stools for cleaning projects as needed.
Ability to work in cold or below-freezing and high-heat environments.

Responsibilities

Follow all company standards related to the position.
Load, run, and unload the dish machine.
Keep the dish machine clean and promptly report functional or mechanical problems.
Monitor dish machine water temperature and chemical usage to ensure a sanitary wash cycle.
Wash and store tableware and kitchenware.
Keep the dishroom clean and organized.
Maintain adequate supplies of clean tableware for the dining room and kitchen.
Handle tableware carefully to prevent breakage and loss.
Assist other employees with cleaning and organizing as needed.
Bag and haul dishroom trash to the dumpster at designated times.
Complete station and shift sidework.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the manager-on-duty or management.
Comply with company appearance and uniform standards.
