About The Position

Open Road Collision group DBA Car Crafters Collision is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Discovery Technician. The role supports collision repair planning by inspecting vehicles to identify damage, documenting findings, and coordinating workflow among estimators, body technicians, and insurance partners. The Discovery Technician bridges disassembly and estimation, helping ensure damage is identified and repairs are safe, thorough, and cost-effective. The position follows a blueprint-style production model and may not involve personally disassembling vehicles.

Requirements

At least 1 year of collision repair experience.
Ability to analyze and interpret repair data and measurements.
Valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicles legally.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
High attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
Positive, dependable, and customer-focused mindset.
Proficiency with standard shop tools and safety procedures.

Nice To Haves

I-CAR Certification in body repair and welding.
OEM certification and knowledge of manufacturer repair processes.

Responsibilities

Perform quality vehicle repairs outlined on repair orders in accordance with manufacturer and industry standards.
Communicate repair progress and requirements to team members.
Complete welding, frame and unibody alignment, body panel repairs, and cosmetic work.
Operate frame machines and other shop equipment safely and efficiently.
Follow safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Conduct quality control inspections upon completion of work.
Mix chemicals and materials according to manufacturer specifications.
