Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate patient transportation services across UVA Health using a variety of resources, including ambulances, wheelchair vans, taxis, public transportation, and other community-based options.
- Serve as a central point of contact for transportation planning, balancing patient needs, insurance requirements, transportation availability, and operational priorities to ensure efficient patient movement.
- Coordinate patient discharge transportation using ambulances, wheelchair vans, taxis, buses, and other transportation resources.
- Communicate with patients, families, clinical teams, case managers, and transportation vendors to arrange appropriate transport solutions.
- Navigate insurance coverage requirements and transportation eligibility guidelines to support efficient discharge planning.
- Prioritize transportation requests while managing multiple cases simultaneously in a dynamic healthcare environment.
- Investigate transportation concerns, resolve service issues, and support positive patient experiences.
- Track transportation activity, process invoices, and maintain accurate records in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Support process improvement initiatives and assist with training and onboarding of new team members.
