Responsibilities

• Lead disaster recovery and business continuity efforts, including architecture for critical facilities such as 911 and backup sites.
• Assess the current state, including RTO/RPO, disaster recovery plans, and risks, and define a target state with clear, actionable disaster recovery architectures.
• Shape secure remote access and perimeter defense patterns with security and network teams, focusing on principles and capabilities rather than specific products.
• Partner with domain administrators to improve Active Directory and identity architecture and help define roles and responsibilities (RACI) for core services.
• Guide network segmentation and retirement of legacy network overlays to improve security and resilience.
• Work with application, database, and infrastructure teams to improve observability so issues are detected early and recovery is faster.
• Translate technical risks and options into clear language for the CIO, senior leadership, and agency stakeholders to enable informed decisions.
