About The Position

LKQ Reman Springfield is seeking individuals for automotive engine disassembly and repair. No engine experience is necessary; training is provided. The role performs disassembly and repair work on a variety of parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies, and may involve setting up and operating complex machines. Work takes place within an assigned cell and follows established systems, procedures, and health and safety requirements. The position may also cover duties in the department or other departments as needed and may train or instruct fellow workers.

Requirements

• Ability to read and write, verified through the employment process.
• Basic math skills.
• No previous engine or other relevant experience is required; training is provided.
• Ability to perform continuous physical effort and repetitive-motion work, including short work cycles.
• Ability to stand approximately 80% of the time and walk approximately 20% of the time.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull an average of 80+ pounds occasionally, 40 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
• Ability to work amid dust, fumes, varying temperature extremes, noise, chemicals, and waste products.

Responsibilities

• Perform disassembly and repair operations on parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies.
• Set up and operate complex machines.
• Carry out operations such as washing, cleaning, checking, inspecting, material handling, repairing, gauging parts, magnafluxing, shot blasting, tumbling, and prepping.
• Follow cell systems and procedures and health and safety requirements.
• Handle materials and waste between processes.
• Maintain the quality of assigned work and products.
• Perform daily housekeeping and preventative maintenance within the cell.
• Participate in daily cell meetings, continuous improvement activities, and cell design and controls.
• Support the cell leader with documentation and fill in for the cell leader when necessary.
• Cross-train within the cell.
• Perform other duties or fill in for others in the department or other departments as needed or requested.
• Train or instruct fellow workers regarding duties when needed.
