As a Disability Support Professional, you’ll be a key part of our team, helping empower residents to live fulfilling lives! This is a full-time position with a rich benefits package.

Requirements

A genuine passion for working with individuals with disabilities.
A commitment to providing person-centered care with respect and dignity.
The ability to lift, push, pull, and move 40 pounds to assist with resident mobility.
Great communication and interpersonal skills.
A proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
A willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

At least one year of pediatric or long-term care experience with knowledge of ICF (intermediate care facility)
Certification in Adult and Pediatric CPR, First-Aid, AED, and BLS
Proficient in electronic medical documentation
Valid NC driver’s license

Responsibilities

Provide compassionate assistance and guidance with daily living activities, such as dressing, grooming, and mealtimes, fostering a sense of dignity and self-reliance.
Engage residents in meaningful activities according to their individual programs and group experiences to promote their well-being.
Guide residents in building new skills, maintaining existing abilities, and actively participating in community inclusion activities.
Use positive reinforcement to motivate and encourage residents and fellow staff members.
Proactively address any concerns and adhere to Horizons’ policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
Foster a collaborative and supportive atmosphere by communicating effectively with colleagues and contributing to conflict resolution.
Confidently handle unexpected situations, making sound decisions in emergencies and escalating concerns to supervisors when needed.
Accurate and timely documentation is vital to ensuring the continuity of care for our residents. Your detailed records will directly contribute to their well-being and progress.
