About The Position

Our nonprofit organization in Rural Hall is dedicated to creating a vibrant and supportive community for children and adults with diverse needs. As a Disability Support Professional, you’ll be a key part of our team, helping empower residents to live fulfilling lives! This is a full-time position with a rich benefits package.

Requirements

  • A genuine passion for working with individuals with disabilities.
  • A commitment to providing person-centered care with respect and dignity.
  • The ability to lift, push, pull, and move 40 pounds to assist with resident mobility.
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and solutions-oriented approach.
  • A willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of pediatric or long term care experience with knowledge of ICF (intermediate care facility)
  • Certification in Adult and Pediatric CPR, First-Aid, AED, and BLS
  • Proficient in electronic medical documentation
  • Valid NC driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate assistance and guidance with daily living activities, such as dressing, grooming, and mealtimes, fostering a sense of dignity and self-reliance.
  • Engage residents in meaningful activities according to their individual programs and group experiences to promote their well-being.
  • Guide residents in building new skills, maintaining existing abilities, and actively participating in community inclusion activities.
  • Use positive reinforcement to motivate and encourage residents and fellow staff members.
  • Proactively address any concerns and adhere to Horizons’ policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive atmosphere by communicating effectively with colleagues and contributing to conflict resolution.
  • Confidently handle unexpected situations, making sound decisions in emergencies and escalating concerns to supervisors when needed.
  • Accurate and timely documentation is vital to ensuring the continuity of care for our residents. Your detailed records will directly contribute to their well-being and progress.
