About The Position

This position leads day-to-day operations of Disability Services for students throughout their university experience, from initial enrollment through graduation from Florida Polytechnic University. The Program Manager is responsible for the life cycle of a student accommodation process from intake to implementation of approved accommodations. The Program Manager provides University leadership for disability services, with a focus on assessment measures that are naturally embedded within the curriculum. The role determines, provides, and arranges for the provision of appropriate academic or other university accommodations through their living, learning and any services or programs provided, in addition adaptive and assistive technology supports as determined in the disability services eligibility process. This position plans and executes programming and educational opportunities for the University community throughout the academic year. This role also functions as a liaison and resource to faculty, staff, and housing & residential life personnel on disability services.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Education, Psychology, or related field.
  • 3 Years’ experience in higher education
  • In lieu of a degree, any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
  • Proficient in federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, and college and university policies related to disabilities.
  • Proficient in in-depth knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and demonstrated ability to learn other computer systems necessary for the role.
  • Proficient skills in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Proficient in identifying complex problems, reviewing related information, developing and evaluating options, and implementing solutions.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a demanding academic environment; demonstrate decisive insight and develop novel approaches to achieving access
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • This position requires a criminal background check, which may include a Level II screening as required by Florida Statute §435.04.
  • This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and interprets relevant documentation and student accommodation requests for students with disabilities. Participates in an interactive process with students to review accommodation requests; determines and grants reasonable accommodations; monitors, adjusts, and evaluates individual accommodation plans; and informs students about the accommodation process.
  • Responsible for housing accommodation requests.
  • Manages and executes testing services.
  • Contacts and responds to faculty, staff, and campus constituents inside and outside of the university using judgment and discretion.
  • Supports the office's daily activities, including but not limited to triaging calls and walk-ins, responding to email inquiries, and referring student concerns to the appropriate resources.
  • Develops campus-wide awareness of disability, accommodations, and accessibility-related topics.
  • Represents the office and shares pertinent information with internal and external contacts through training sessions, presentations, and university events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
