About The Position

Are you passionate about learning, social services, and nonprofit work? Then this full-time Day Program Coordinator position might be the perfect fit! As a Disabilities Day Program Coordinator at TURN Community Services, you have the exciting opportunity to serve individuals with disabilities, helping them grow through art and learning. The typical schedule for this nonprofit Day Program Coordinator position is Monday-Friday between the hours of 7:30am to 4:30pm including various staff meetings at different times. In addition, flexibility to work outside of the typical schedule will be needed for program and agency needs and events.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of work experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience in a work setting.
  • Experience with various forms of art.
  • 18+ years of age.
  • Personal and reliable transportation.
  • Valid driver's license, current motor vehicle insurance, and clean driving record.
  • Willingness to drive large program buses and vans, and to train new employees to drive large vehicles.
  • Proficiency with computers.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring, supervising, and participating in the development and implementation of person-centered behavior support, along with other support plans and curricula for each person.
  • Ensuring that each individual's personal goals and well-being are being met through their individualized support plan during the art and learning day program.
  • Serving as the TURN representative in the community and other professional settings, acting as the go-to person for all stakeholders.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.
  • Helping individuals with disabilities in the art and learning program learn various skills to gain independence in their lives, including social skills, communication, safety, recreation, and leisure.
  • Assisting clients with personal hygiene care, behavior management, and lifting and transfers.
  • Coordinating a program that focuses on art (drawing, singing, dancing, painting, playing instruments) and outdoor activities (Special Olympics, bowling, hiking, museum visits, national parks, swimming, pickleball).
  • Planning and executing specific activities in all program areas.
  • Interviewing and hiring staff.
  • Monitoring and evaluating staff performance.
  • Staff training and development.
  • Staff discipline.
  • Scheduling staff.
  • Performing administrative functions such as financial, liaison, and reporting duties.
