Global Operations Resilience Team- Director (AVP)
About The Position
The Director (AVP) will join Morgan Stanley’s Global Operations Resilience Team within the Operations Risk and Regulatory Control Division, providing global resilience support for ISG Key Business Services. The role supports Operations Resilience strategy regionally and globally, partnering with Fusion Firm Resilience, ORRC, ORD, TOR, and Operations and Technology leadership to meet current and future resilience requirements. The Director reports directly to the Resilience Program VP Lead. The Global Operations Resilience team proactively manages Operations’ ability to respond to, recover from, learn from, and prevent disruptions, focusing on scenarios that may affect Key Business Services and Critical Operations functions. The position manages a Key Business Service on behalf of Operations, including developing and maintaining understanding of its scope, asset maps, and impact tolerances. It also supports resilience planning, testing, governance, regional continuity, and related business and regulatory projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Strong financial industry experience.
- Front-to-back Operations experience or knowledge.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with executive presence.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, multitask, and meet deadlines.
- Strong critical-thinking skills and ability to innovate.
- Ability to develop and leverage a strong network across Operations and the wider organization.
- At least 6 years of relevant experience would generally be expected.
Responsibilities
- Proactively manage Operations Resilience and understand its impact on Business Services and the broader Firm.
- Recommend improvements and assess the effectiveness of resilience plans to reduce disruption risk.
- Manage a Key Business Service on behalf of Operations, including developing, maintaining, and enhancing service scope, asset maps, and impact tolerances.
- Prepare for and participate in scenario testing and tabletop exercises.
- Plan and execute annual continuity plan and business impact analysis refreshes.
- Plan and execute annual continuity testing.
- Provide regional Operations resilience and continuity support across Operations silos, partnering with Operations teams and supporting ISG Operations Resilience Leads.
- Develop and enhance resilience metrics and governance materials for Operations senior leadership.
- Work on ad hoc business and regulatory-related projects.
- Support departmental goals for automation and innovation.
