About The Position

AVIXA is seeking a Director, Training - Business and Product Portfolio to lead and grow its training business. This role is focused on the commercial aspects of education, understanding learner and customer value, and driving the growth and impact of AVIXA's training offerings for the AV industry. The Director will own the strategy, roadmap, performance, and operating priorities of the training business, making data-informed decisions about product development, improvement, packaging, pricing, scaling, localization, and discontinuation. As a not-for-profit association, AVIXA aims to utilize resources efficiently to provide valuable training to the industry during a period of rapid change.

  • Experience owning or meaningfully influencing a revenue-generating education, content, certification, training, or product portfolio.
  • Enjoy using data, customer insight, financial signals, and sales feedback to decide what to build, improve, scale, or stop doing.
  • Ability to balance learner value, brand quality, margin, speed, resource capacity, and executive stakeholder expectations.
  • Comfort in customer and executive conversations.
  • Ability to lead teams and stakeholders without needing every function to report directly.
  • Ability to work with curriculum and technical experts without needing to personally write the curriculum.
  • Understanding that great education products must be useful, credible, buyable, scalable, and financially sustainable.

  • Backgrounds in certification, association education, B2B training, professional education, edtech, customer education, media/content products, events/content, SaaS/product, or similar environments where education or content is treated as a product or business line.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow AVIXA's training business.
  • Own the day-to-day strategy, roadmap, performance, and operating priorities for AVIXA’s training business.
  • Make practical, data-informed decisions about what to build, improve, package, price, scale, localize, or sunset.
  • Be accountable for training revenue, margin, learner volume, adoption, certification-related impact, product performance, and perceived quality.
  • Shape the training portfolio, leading roadmap, lifecycle, prioritization, MVP decisions, resource tradeoffs, and product recommendations.
  • Represent the training business in internal, customer, and cross-functional conversations.
  • Lead through influence across Sales, Marketing, Membership, Customer Service, Expo, IT, regional offices, Finance, technical experts, curriculum teams, and major customers.
  • Improve operating discipline, product decision-making, customer feedback loops, roadmap clarity, and the commercial performance of training.
  • Explore scalable and innovative learning delivery methods with emerging AI education development resources, learning delivery teams, product/project support, and content experts.
  • Develop training business strategy, operating priorities, roadmap, and portfolio performance.
  • Manage revenue, margin, learner volume, certification-related impact, adoption, perceived quality, and product lifecycle outcomes.
  • Make product roadmap decisions based on customer insight, sales feedback, learner behavior, financial data, certification needs, market opportunity, and team capacity.
  • Make recommendations on pricing, packaging, bundles, member/non-member value, product investment, localization opportunities, and product sunsets.
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment with Sales, Marketing, Membership, Customer Service, Expo, IT, regional offices, Finance, Live Content, curriculum, technical SMEs, and learning systems.
  • Establish regular feedback loops with major training customers and sales teams to understand market demand, buying objections, renewal risk, product gaps, and growth opportunities.
  • Lead teams across curriculum development, technical SME support, learning delivery and innovation, product/project support, contractors, agencies, instructors, and matrixed contributors.
