About The Position

The Director of Pathfinding R&D will be part of the Central Engineering organization and report directly to the CTO. The person is expected to develop close cross-functional relationships with especially the Advanced Solutions BU and the Strategic Business Development organization. The role will encompass developing a thorough understanding of current and future trends in semiconductor packaging, internally communicating how these trends will affect K&S’ businesses and making recommendations for Next, Next+1 and Next+2 equipment requirements. This effort will include in-depth analysis and independent verification of industry reports, such as those by Yole, Gartner and Techsearch working closely with Strategic Business Development. The role also involves engaging with customers and industry leaders to understand future needs and promote K&S’ products, including technical marketing, both directly to customers and at industry conferences. Initiating and driving collaborative engagements with consortia, universities and adjacent companies is also a key aspect, with specific examples including engagements with UCLA, Penn State University, Resonac, Texas Institute of Electronics, IME (Singapore) and the CHIPS office of the US government. The position requires championing and facilitating the writing of technical papers for conferences and supporting other technical marketing efforts. Additionally, the candidate will participate in the technical evaluation of potential acquisition targets. In addition to the pathfinding role, the candidate is expected to apply their deep technical understanding in semiconductor packaging to critical technical issues as needed. Travel is approximately 10% domestically and internationally.

Requirements

• Bachelors Degree, Masters Preferred in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field
• 10 year of industry experience, with strong background in Semiconductor Industry
