About The Position

The Senior Director, Technology Strategy and Enablement provides strategic and operational leadership for the organization's technology function, including technology strategy, software development, enterprise applications, IT operations, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, and emerging technologies. This role ensures technology solutions, services, and investments effectively support organizational priorities, improve operational efficiency, and enable innovation. Serving as the organization's senior technology leader, the Senior Director develops and executes the technology roadmap, partners with leaders across the organization to understand business needs, and translates those needs into scalable, secure, and effective technology solutions. The role is responsible for balancing the delivery of reliable day-to-day technology services with long-term planning, modernization, and continuous improvement. AORN is based in Denver, CO. Our Sr Director, Technology Strategy and Enablement will work remotely.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Information Technology, Business, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience leading software development, enterprise applications, digital products, technology strategy, business systems, or related technology functions.
  • 5+ years of experience leading professional staff, managers, software development teams, product teams, or enterprise application teams.
  • Experience leading the design, development, implementation, integration, and continuous improvement of enterprise applications, software platforms, digital products, or business systems.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing technology strategic plans, application roadmaps, digital transformation initiatives, or significant enterprise technology programs.
  • Experience working with IT vendors to execute strategic technology plans.
  • Experience partnering with business leaders to identify requirements and translate organizational needs into scalable technology solutions and product strategies.
  • Experience presenting recommended technology strategies and plans to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Experience managing technology vendors, SaaS platforms, system implementations, and technology-related contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes the organization's technology strategy and roadmap in alignment with organizational goals, priorities, and future business needs.
  • Provides leadership and oversight of technology operations, software development, enterprise applications, cybersecurity, systems administration, enterprise architecture, and related technology services.
  • Leads the strategy, governance, and lifecycle management of AORN's enterprise applications, ensuring systems effectively support organizational objectives, user needs, and business processes.
  • Leads AORN's enterprise cybersecurity program, including security strategy, policies, standards, risk assessments, incident detection and response, vulnerability mitigation, and employee security awareness.
  • Oversees the design, development, implementation, integration, and continuous enhancement of internally developed applications, digital products, and technology solutions.
  • Establishes product roadmaps and technology priorities for enterprise applications and digital platforms, balancing business needs, user experience, security, scalability, and resource investment.
  • Partners with business leaders to gather requirements, prioritize technology initiatives, and translate organizational needs into innovative software and application solutions.
  • Leads the evaluation, adoption, and responsible use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, to improve organizational effectiveness, productivity, and business outcomes.
  • Oversees the design, implementation, integration, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise applications, technology platforms, and internally developed solutions.
  • Establishes technology standards, governance practices, architecture principles, and operational processes that support scalability, reliability, security, and efficiency.
  • Ensures cybersecurity, data protection, privacy, business continuity, disaster recovery, and technology risk management practices comply with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, including HIPAA, PCI DSS, and NIST frameworks.
  • Evaluates technology solutions, vendors, and service providers and makes recommendations regarding technology investments, platforms, and strategic partnerships.
  • Develops and manages technology budgets, resource plans, contracts, and technology investments to balance operational requirements and strategic initiatives.
  • Leads significant technology implementations, modernization efforts, system enhancements, and cross-functional technology initiatives to achieve successful adoption and business value.
  • Establishes performance measures and monitors service delivery, operational effectiveness, project outcomes, and technology adoption to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, performance management, and professional development for technology leaders and team members while fostering a collaborative, service-oriented, and high-performing culture.
  • Communicates technology opportunities, priorities, risks, and recommendations in clear business terms to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Monitors industry trends and evolving technologies and assesses their relevance, value, and potential impact on the organization.
  • Presents technology strategies, priorities, key initiatives, and organizational impacts to the Finance & Audit Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
