About The Position

Morgan Stanley Services Group, Inc. is seeking a Director, Tax & Advisory in New York, New York to provide tax compliance and reporting support for the firm consolidated federal, state, and local corporate tax returns, relevant schedules, and supporting documentation. Prepare and review separate company income tax provision and footnote for audited financial statements. Prepare and review the tax provisions, including separate company financial statements, monthly, and quarterly effective tax rate (ETR) calculations. Work with consultants, Controllers, and other support groups to gather needed information for the calculation of quarterly estimates, provisions, and tax returns. Work with a varied group of colleagues in connection with federal, state, and local tax audits or inquiries and prepare responses to tax notices in response to Information Document Requests (IDRs). Review of quarterly federal and state deferred tax balances for regulatory reporting purposes. Reconciliation and validation of income tax accounts and balance sheet tax accounts. Help to manage and administer tax engagements with service providers. Assist with tax calendars and scheduling of deliverables. Process payments to taxing authorities and delivery of tax filings. Analyze of income tax accounting impact of transactions, and assist with special projects. Collaborate with Legal Entity Management team, and oversee the formation and closure of legal entities in certain segments.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Professional Accounting, Finance, or a related field of study
  • Two (2) years of experience in the position offered or two (2) years as a Tax Manager, Tax Associate, or a closely related occupation
  • Two (2) years of experience with preparing and reviewing U.S. federal corporate and partnership income tax returns, related schedules, and supporting documents
  • Two (2) years of experience with preparing state and local corporate, and partnership income tax returns including unitary and combined reporting
  • Two (2) years of experience with applying Accounting Standards Codification (ASC) 740 income tax accounting principles
  • Two (2) years of experience with preparing and analyzing income tax provisions for financial reporting
  • Two (2) years of experience with calculating and analyzing effective tax rates (ETR)
  • Two (2) years of experience with analyzing and reconciling deferred tax assets and deferred tax liabilities
  • Two (2) years of experience with reconciling income tax accounts and balance sheet tax accounts
  • Two (2) years of experience with analyzing tax adjustments and book-to-tax differences
  • Two (2) years of experience with preparing tax footnote disclosures for audited financial statements
  • Two (2) years of experience with supporting federal and state tax audits including responses to Information Document Requests (IDRs)
  • Two (2) years of experience with analyzing tax accounting impacts of corporate transactions
  • Two (2) years of experience with preparing and reviewing tax compliance filings for multiple legal entities
  • Two (2) years of experience using tax compliance and tax provision software for corporate tax reporting
  • Two (2) years of experience using Microsoft Excel functions for tax data analysis and reconciliation
